Parisii String Quartet of France
arrives in Sedona for
Sunday March 25 Concert
From
the land of magical wines and cheeses to the Magical Music
in the Red Rocks, the Paisii String Quartet of France will
perform in concert, 3:00pm Sunday March 25 at St. John Vianney
Church, 180 Soldier Pass Road in Sedona. The concert is sponsored
by David and Dottie Webster.
The
matinee concert will include String Quartet in D Minor,
K.421 (Einstein No. 417b) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,
String Quartet by Germaine Tailleferee (1892-1983),
String Quartet by Louis Durey (1888-1979), and String
Quartet in E Flat Major, Opus 127 by Beethoven.
This
promises to be an extraordinary program stated Chamber
Music Sedona Executive Director Bert Harclerode. The
juxtaposition and diverse repertoire will offer a delightful
program with a European flair! This will be the first performance
of music by Tailleferee and Durey in Sedona during our 17-year
history. This program is not to be missed! stated Harclerode.
Formed
in 1984 by four prize-winning graduates of the Conservatoire
National Superieur de Paris, the Parisii went on to win three
major international competitions after only two years its
formation; the Banff (Canada - 1986), the Evian (France -
1987) and the Munich (1987 - Germany). Immediately the Parisii
followed with a 17-concert tour of the United States.
In
great demand throughout the world, and particularly its hometown
of Paris, the Parisii includes violinists Thierry Brodard
and Jean-Michel Berrette, violist Dominique Lobet and cellist
Jean-Philippe Martignoni. The quartet was featured at the
Opera Bastille in an all Haydn program, performed an all Beethoven
program at Salle Faveau and recently appeared at the Musee
dOrsay. Last season the Parisii appeared in Spain and
Italy, and toured extensively in France, Britain and South
America.
In
a recent edition of The STRAD the Parisii
was described as Energetic, finely tuned, subtly phrased
and exploring the gamut of emotional complexity inherent in
the work, the Parisiis interpretation was an exemplary
one. The Quartet is noted for its performance of distinctive
and unusual repertoire of the 18th, 19th
and 20th centuries.
Reserved
tickets are $25 and general admission $18. Students are $5
at the door with valid ID. Chamber Music Sedona is a grant
